County and the surrounding regions. Following
along Aska Road in GA there are several easy,
moderate and even expert level North Georgia
Hiking trails; get out and see all of the beauty
that abounds in the North Georgia Blue Ridge
Mountain region. Below you find a few details on
some of the more popular Hiking Trails in North
Georgia. Come to North Georgia and discover the
amazing lifestyle that one can have here.
Easy Trails:
The Lake Blue Ridge Loop Trail – This .6
mile trail follows a path along the shore of
beautiful Lake Blue Ridge and through a wooded
forest.
Green Mountain Trail – This trail begins
at Deep Gap in the Aska Adventure Area and takes
hikers over Green Mountain to some really great
views of Lake Blue Ridge. You can take a
different route on the return trip that has a
slightly more moderate grade.
Moderate Trails:
Benton Mackaye – Appalachian Trail Loop –
this is a moderate 5.5 mile loop trail that
takes hikers from the Springer Mountain Day Use
parking area and over Rich Mountain. You follow
the ridgeline along Rich Mountain and can pick
up the Appalachian Trail and take it down to
Stover Creek and the Three Forks area. About
14.3 miles from the beginning trailhead hikers
will come to the famous Toccoa River Swinging
Bridge. This 265 foot long bridge is the longest
swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River
and a popular destination for those looking to
take pictures.
Jacks River Trail – this trail is a long
hike and perfect for overnight camping trips.
Take the 16.9 mile moderate trail at Dally Gap
and about halfway through the hike you will come
to a phenomenal view of Jacks River Falls.
Following along through the Cohutta Wilderness
the trail ends in the Alacusy Valley. This North
Georgia Hiking Trip requires two vehicles.
Stanley Gap Trail – This 4.6 mile trail
is great for a day hike. There are two
trailheads, one at Deep Gap and the other at
Stanley Gap. Many times hikers like to take two
cars and park one at each side. The Deep Gap
Trail takes hikers over Davenport Mountain where
the trail connects with the Benton MacKaye
trail. Climbing up and over Rocky Mountains, the
trail descends with a very steep grade into
Stanley Gap.
Difficult Trails:
Tipton Mountain Trail – this trail is a
very steep 2.6 mile section of the Benton
MacKaye Trail. You can begin at Highway 60 at
Wilscot Gap and follow the trail to some
phenomenal long range views.
